Gerani Villas

The Gerani Villas are four modern and spacious detached holiday homes on the slope of a hill above the village of Gerani on the bay of ▶ Rethymnon.

A private garden with swimming pool and sun terrace belongs to each villa.

Two of the houses each have 3 bedrooms, two of them furnished with double beds and one with 2 single beds, and 2 bathrooms each.

The other two houses each have 4 bedrooms, three of them furnished with double beds and one with 2 single beds, and 3 bathrooms each.

Besides the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, all four villas else are of the same size and equipment.

Each of them has its own plot which is framed by a garden wall of natural stone, with sunk-in lamps.

Outside the living-room there is a terrace which lines the swimming pool of 40 square meters size which has a paddling-pool section.

Lawn, ornamental plants and a barbecue of natural stone make the outer facilities complete.

Garden furniture are available on the terrace and on the balconies, and by the swimming pool there are sunbeds and umbrellas.

The four Gerani Villas have been built in 2004 and 2006 as luxury holiday homes right above the village of Gerani near ▶ Rethymnon. They are located on a slope above the village and enjoy particularly beautiful views of the small bay of Gerani, and the Aegean Sea.

The large property is framed by walls of natural stone, and the gardens of the four villas are separated by natural stone walls as well.

Gerani is a small, typically Cretan village with crooked lanes. It stands on a hill above a small bay, some 7 kms west of the town center of Rethymnon in the western half of the island of ▶ Crete.

Two times per day a public bus serves the village. From the motor highway below the village hourly public bus service to Rethymnon and ▶ Heraklion (88 kms) as well as to ▶ Chania (55 kms).

A rented car is however advisable as the villas are located roughly 1 km from the village center, and 2 kms from the motor highway.

The small swimming-bay below the village has a pebbled beach, a tiny fishing-port, a small church and a popular taverna.

Just 5 kms west, the bridge over Petres river marks beginning of one of Crete's most beautiful sandy dream beaches.

It spreads over a distance of 11 kms along the Almirou Bay via Kavros till Georgioupolis and gives home to all kinds of watersports, and a dive center.

In recent years, many new houses have been built on the slopes around the village. They all enjoy most beautiful views of the bay, the sea and the mountains.

Heraklion airport is 94 kms away, Chania airport 60 kms. With respect to the National Road's winding character, transfer durations from and to the airports must not be underestimated.

The living-room on the ground floor has an open fireplace and a satellite color TV set which also allows to listen international radio programs.

The dining area and the kitchen are connected cornerwise.

Washing-machine, iron and board are available, furthermore a safe deposit box and a hairdryer.

Solar hot water supply with auxiliary electric heating. Rooms cleaning as well as change of sheets and towels twice per week.

Wireless internet access (ADSL / WiFi) is available all over the holiday villas site.

The kitchen equipment is modern and very comprehensive. It includes electric hobs with 4 hot-plates and bake-ovens, microwave ovens, integrated refrigerators/freezers and dishwashers.

The barbecue in the garden is prepared not only for sausages and steaks but also for spits.

A supermarket, two mini markets, baker's shop, butcher's shop, pastry shop, hairdresser, kafenion and two tavernas are located in the 1 km distant village center.

Below the village at the swimming-bay (2.4 kms) there are two more tavernas.

The nearest LIDL market with a rich choice of budget imported foodstuffs is located by the highway short before Rethymnon (6 kms).

During the season, plenty of sports and watersports are on offer on the beaches of ▶ Rethymnon (10 kms), Kavros (13 kms) and ▶ Georgioupolis (19 kms).

This includes volleyball, windsurfing, water skiing, paragliding, sailing, wetbikes, jet skiing, pedaloes and much more.

In the swimming-bay of Gerani there is a small marina.

Bars, discotheques and a colourful nightlife can all-year be found in the picturesque Venetian old town of Rethymnon.

In Rethymnon in a side lane of the beach road, there is a small enterprise which specializes in professional organization of private events.
